I know as a client you loooove the smiley photos with your babes which as a mum, I totally get, but gosh - I gotta tell you.. as a photographer and memory catcher, it’s the soulful, tender moments that really take my breath away and leave me feeling so nostalgic. The slump into your body when your child gets tired, the way they stroke your face to get your attention, the way their little hands fits perfectly into the fold of yours. It’s magic, and these photos mean you can go back to those moments in years to come.

Capturing little ones is one of my favourites because you never know what you’re going to get. Will they co-operate? Who knows. I always try some prompts with toddlers which sometimes work and sometimes don’t! They have strong minds of their own which I love.

Usually, we end up following their lead, moving spots, trying new things but we always capture magic memories no matter how chaotic it can feel sometimes. Don’t miss capturing this season of your life with them. Don’t be worried about them not doing what they are ‘supposed’ to. Be in the moment, love on them as they are in the moment and the photos will always make you smile and remember.

Want to add colour to your family shoot - please DO! The days of beige and white are out my friends. You know I love earthy tones to photograph but I also love POPS of colour.

How beautiful is this family shoot? Caitlyn explained to me in her questionnaire that her son was very active and would not be one to sit and have photos which I absolutely understand. A lot of kids won’t! She wanted a more documentary style shoot with no pressure which I also absolutely love. Usually my family shoots involve a bit of portrait style mixed with lots of action, activities and fun. It takes the pressure off and you get genuine smiles rather than those stiff fake smiles we all know.
