Who is Kayla?
I’m a wife, Mum, photographer and beach lover. I’m a tad quirky, full of love, sensitive and adventurous. I am a passionate photographer living on the Sunshine Coast in Qld. I am also a red wine drinker who loves the sun and seeking adventure with my little family whilst also loving the comfort of home, come night, sinking into the couch with my husband, a sneaky row of chocolate and usually, lightroom – ready to edit.
I’m the wife to an amazing, hard working man, Damien and Mum to three gorgeous, incredible little ones. Harper is 5 years old and is a beautiful, creative girl. Indigo is 3 and is my wild one.. bold, social and very loving. My little man, Harrison is 1 which I can’t believe. He’s our little dude, cheeky and so sweet. My family are my world. Being a Mum is the greatest gift I could ask for. They say our hearts beat outside our bodies when we become parents.
I absolutely love the whole art and experience of being a photographer, story teller & memory chaser. Communicating with and meeting clients, taking photos and experimenting with light, locations and props. I love capturing all sorts of people, families, occasions, weather and locations. Motherhood is my fav season to capture. Mums are always taking the photos so I feel strongly about them being in front of the lens and I adore being able to capture and romanticise the journey of motherhood. I love editing and playing around with the light to bring out the beauty in a photo. I adore pressing send on the galleries and waiting in anticipation for the response of my clients, hoping they truly love their photos.
A little more about my story:
Growing up; I spent most of my childhood dancing. Dancing was my life. I worked as a professional dancer for ten years travelling the world on cruise ships, touring in magic shows and finally working at theme parks. Having lived in Sydney, London, under the sea level of several cruise ships, in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast, I’m very happily settled here on the incredible Sunshine Coast. Toward the end of my dance career, I became a primary school teacher which I did full time for three years.
I realized I was missing that artistic, creative, free side of myself. For as long as I remembered, I loved taking photos. My storage was always full on every device I owned and since becoming a parent, it had only become worse
It took having a baby and realizing what’s really important for me to take the plunge. I basically walk through life thinking ‘that would make a beautiful photograph’ and seeing everything through a photographic lens. I took the plunge and now haven’t looked back, almost 3 years into my business. I am constantly evolving, growing and loving it more and more as I find my perfect client, you! I adore capturing the love, passion and emotion that runs through families of all designs.
